How long does it take to heat my food?
Most meals are hot within 10 to 15 minutes straight from the fridge, and 20 to 25 minutes from frozen. Steam heats from every side at once, so your food warms through evenly instead of cooking against one hot plate.
Do I need to add water?
Yes. You pour a small amount of water into the base before steaming, using the measuring cup that comes with it. The water turns to steam and never touches your food, it stays separate underneath.
What types of food can I heat?
Almost anything that suits steam heat, from rice, pasta and grains to stews, soups, vegetables and meat dishes. The Steambox App has recipes if you want ideas.
Is the Steambox dishwasher safe?
The food container and silicone seal are dishwasher safe. The bamboo lid and the heating unit are not, wipe those clean with a damp cloth.
Where is Steambox designed?
Steambox is designed in the Netherlands and built for people who take their food seriously, wherever they are.
Do I need to charge it?
No. Steambox runs on a cable, so there is no battery to charge and nothing to run empty. Plug it into any socket and you get full steam power right away.
Can I use it without a power outlet?
Steambox needs a socket to steam. A car charger and a power bank are on the way for full freedom on the go, so you can heat your meal anywhere there is no wall socket.
Will my food dry out like in a microwave?
No. A microwave pushes heat through your food and dries it from the inside. Steam does the opposite, it keeps moisture in, so your meal comes out tender instead of rubbery.
